When Alan gets spicy, I wish we could do GIFs here:
<insert American Psycho nodding and pursing his lips animation here>
I worry that while BR is great at modifying the plan in motion and it's not a one size fits any opposition at all, it is sophisticated, he does talk about having an identity and I wonder if shelling long balls is too much of a modification to fit his conception of what HIS Celtic team is.
Here's hoping we can squeeze out a 2-1 or 1-0 win.. or, if we have to lose, at least we avoid a very bad result.
I saw a rival fan media - no, not ACSOM - pod predict a Maeda-Idah-Kuhn front 3, I think I'd go Jota-Maeda-Kuhn, all pace and trickery, and slap Idah on for the last 10 and hope for some hold up play to survive a late barrage. You guys seem to think Idah'd be out muscled and I defer, I barely pay attention to Sevco these days so ultra wealthy teams in Europe only get a look in from me when we play them.
I love how provincial team whinge about Celts worrying about resource deficits against massively resources European side like it is hypocrisy... I don't deny we have that advantage domestically, to that end them them moaning about us being entitled... um, we spend more. We should have a higher expectation. You don't go to a car dealership, lay down serious cash and expect a old banger.
So, no hypocrisy here, to quote James O'Brien on LBC: "It's not opinion, it is counting".
What I will say though is this: Your 800k player is a class below our 3m player but in the key moments the 3m player isn't infallible, the switched on, playing Celtic like it's a cup final, on a wet Wednesday player against a very fallible 3m celt is, well, certainly feels like, I'll let Alan and Juco confirm or deny my instinct, orders of magnitude more likely than even our record signing doing the same often enough against their 65, 90, 140m assets (cheers transfermarkt) to make a meaningful difference often enough to count on it happening.
After a pro who can cross, shoot, step over and run for 90 mins, you get that for 600k, you pay for those margins at the top of the top table and with just about every penny Sky et al raised through Scottish subscription fees being spent on the bigger leagues, and NOT the SPFL, even if Celtic IS managed to within an inch of it's life, we just cannot compete for that small but very significant margin.
It's Raith winning the Scottish Cup v us for a Tony Watt putting Barca to sworn moment, and the gap between the rich clubs and the ultra rich clubs has only grown since then. Maybe it's changed in the last few years but Man City was collecting great player like a rich 8-year-old with too much pocket money hoarding Pokémon cards. Can you imagine Celtic having so much talent on the books we could lend out a Paddy Roberts?!
Fear worst tonight. They generally play 2 4 4 and will not let celtic out. If celtic attempt to play their normal game in any way it could get pretty ugly early on. We will have to hope that they miss most of their chances and celtic get lucky with long diagonal balls. Feyenoord were that team should really have been beaten by several goals. Still let's hope the team swallow a bit of pride and don't insist on playing out from back.

It is nice to dream though, right? HH
* Tony Watt putting Barca to the sword moment... damn it! Proof read, NUGENT!
*Spicy while roasting Sevco... don't you hate when you miss out sections of sentences?
